Actor Jesse L. Martin is leaving the successful NBC crime drama LAW&ORDER. Martin has appeared on the series as Detective Ed Green since 1999. Martin had signed on to film 13 episodes for this season of the long running series but the WGA writers’ strike interrupted those plans. Detective Green will be written off the show.
Anthony Anderson (who has made several guest appearances in the LAW&ORDER franchise) will replace Martin. Anderson is best known for his comedic roles in films such as Scary Movie 4, but has demonstrated remarkable credibility as a dramatic actor.
Jesse L. Martin follows such notable actors as Jerry Orbach,Chris Noth, Benjamin Bratt, and Paul Sorvino who have portrayed New York City Detectives on the series over the past 18 years. Martin is credited in several upcoming film projects Including a role as singer song writer Marvin Gaye and has also appeared on Broadway in Rent.
On a personal Note, Jesse L. Martin has been one of my favorite members of the LAW&ORDER cast and will be sorely missed.
