having a neighbor who happens to be a vampire takes some adjustment. People in my neighborhood aren’t especially sociable but I thought it would be a nice idea to take a housewarming gift to the newest member of our community.
I stopped over at Dracula’s new house just after dark, forgetting that it must be something like 8:00 am for the undead. Is it impolite to call on somebody that early?
I’d always pictured Dracula’s abode as a dark Gothic castle, but as it turns out he’s a fan of the red brick colonial style. I knocked on the door and was promptly greeted by The Vampire himself. (who was wearing blue hospital scrubs) I tilted my head toward the name on the mailbox; “Mr Dracula?” I asked.
I introduced myself and welcomed him to the neighborhood. He said “Oh, Thanks man” he extended his hand and continued “My name’s Dave, the mailbox should actually say ‘D. Racula’”. We talked for a few minutes but Dave excused himself as he was going to be late for work, He winked and volunteered “third shift Morgue manager at a hospital in the city.” I offered him a gift basket from Crate & barrel “For you and the Mrs.” I said. Dave thanked me again and suggested we get togther some night. I think we’re going to get along just fine.
